Section Engineer

Summary

We’re looking for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major UK power infrastructure project in the East of England. This site-based role is ideal for a civil engineering professional with strong setting-out and technical experience who wants exposure to a variety of complex infrastructure works. You’ll be part of a team delivering essential upgrades that will shape the country’s energy future.

Salary

£41,000 – £49,500 per annum plus car / car allowance of £4,500

Location and Working Pattern

- East of England

- Full-time, site-based role

- Attendance required for morning briefings at 7.15am

- Travel required between project locations: Bury St Edmunds/Norwich/Bramford/Tilbury

- This role is not hybrid or remote

Responsibilities

- Support the safe and successful delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure works

- Undertake setting out and engineering control duties across multiple work fronts

- Coordinate site engineering activities and provide technical support to construction teams

- Ensure quality assurance processes, inspections, and documentation meet project standards

- Produce and manage engineering reports and digital records

- Support work packages including earthworks, drainage, structures, piling, roads and substation infrastructure

- Collaborate with senior team members and project management to ensure delivery targets are met

- Promote high standards of health, safety, and environmental performance on site

Must-have Requirements

- Prior experience as a Site Engineer, Section Engineer or similar

- Proficiency in setting out and engineering control

- Background in civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, highways, or major construction projects

- Valid CSCS Card

- Recognised qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline

- Strong communication and organisational skills

- Full UK driving licence

- Ability to pass a DBS check

Nice-to-have Skills

- Experience with earthworks, drainage, structures, roads, or foundation works

- Knowledge of piling and foundation construction

- Experience on power, utilities, or substation projects

- Familiarity with CAD, GIS, or digital construction platforms

- Certifications such as HSG47, First Aid, or SMSTS
