About Isteni Group
Isteni Group is a Bristol-based property and construction group specialising in property investment and development, construction, interior design, home staging and lettings.
Our projects range from residential refurbishments and extensions to loft conversions, HMOs, serviced accommodation and larger property development projects.
Unlike a traditional design studio, our designers have the opportunity to see projects progress from the initial concept and client brief through to procurement, construction, installation, staging and final handover.
We are looking for an ambitious Interior Design Graduate / Junior Interior Designer who wants to develop both their creative and practical knowledge within the property and construction industry.
The Role
You will work alongside our construction, development and staging teams to create attractive, practical and commercially viable interiors.
The position is particularly suitable for someone at the beginning of their career who wants hands-on experience, exposure to live construction projects and the opportunity to develop into a well-rounded Interior Designer.
Key Responsibilities
• Meet clients and assist in understanding their requirements, lifestyle, budget and design preferences.
• Attend properties to carry out site surveys, measurements and photographic records.
• Develop interior concepts, mood boards, colour palettes and material selections.
• Produce 2D layouts, space plans and furniture layouts.
• Produce 3D visualisations and realistic design presentations where required.
• Assist with bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and living-space designs.
• Prepare lighting, electrical, furniture and finishes layouts.
• Produce design schedules and specifications for construction teams.
• Select flooring, tiles, sanitaryware, lighting, furniture, paint colours, fabrics and accessories.
• Source products and obtain quotations from suppliers.
• Work within agreed client budgets while maintaining the desired design standard.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, suppliers and our internal construction team.
• Attend site during construction to ensure the design intent is being followed.
• Identify design issues early and help develop practical solutions.
• Assist with procurement, ordering and tracking materials and furniture.
• Support the staging and styling of completed properties.
• Prepare client presentations and contribute to design meetings.
• Maintain organised project records, drawings, specifications and supplier information.
• Support the wider Isteni team across property development, construction and staging projects where required.
What You Will Learn
This role is designed to provide significantly broader experience than a conventional junior design position. You will gain practical exposure to:
Interior Design
Concept development, layouts, specifications, finishes, lighting, furniture, kitchens and bathrooms.
Construction
Understanding how designs translate into actual construction, including working with builders, electricians, plumbers, carpenters and other trades.
Property Development
Understanding how design decisions affect property values, rental demand, development costs and return on investment.
Procurement
Supplier management, quotations, budgets, lead times, ordering and cost control.
Client Management
Taking briefs, presenting concepts, managing expectations and communicating throughout a project.
Home Staging
Preparing completed properties for sale, rental, serviced accommodation and marketing.
Career Development
We want this position to develop into a long-term career within Isteni Group.
During your first 12 months, you will be given increasing responsibility as your technical knowledge, confidence and understanding of our projects develop.
Successful candidates will have opportunities to progress into an Interior Designer and ultimately Senior/Lead Interior Designer position, taking greater responsibility for projects, clients and junior members of the team.
Work Permit / Visa Sponsorship
We welcome applications from talented UK and international graduates.
For candidates who require sponsorship to continue working in the UK, Isteni Group is willing to consider providing work permit / Skilled Worker visa sponsorship after 12 months of successful continuous employment.
Any sponsorship would be subject to:
• Successful completion of the first 12 months of employment.
• Consistently strong performance and conduct.
• Demonstrating long-term suitability for the role and the company.
• The role and candidate meeting the applicable UK Government immigration and sponsorship requirements at the relevant time.
• Isteni Group holding or obtaining the necessary sponsorship permissions.
This provides international candidates with the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities and build a long-term career with the company.
The Person We Want
We are looking for someone who wants more than simply producing drawings.
You should be interested in understanding how a property is designed, built, furnished, staged and ultimately delivered to the client.
We value people who are creative but practical, take ownership of their work, communicate openly, enjoy learning and want to grow with a developing business.
Why Join Isteni Group?
You will have the opportunity to work across interior design, construction, property development and staging under one group, giving you exposure to the complete property lifecycle.
For the right individual, this is intended to be a long-term position with genuine responsibility, professional development and career progression as the business grows.
