Summary

A Vacancy at Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our team. We are an Older Adult Acute Inpatient Service within Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber NHS Foundation Trust and based in Doncaster.

The post is offered is a Band 7 preceptorship opportunity or at an 8A dependant on experience.

The service provides a high-quality person-centred service for people with acute mental health difficulties.  The service offers a full multidisciplinary approach and this post will be integral to the team.

This post will offer a varied experience that will provide robust continuing professional development through clinical supervision, reflective practice and training opportunities. 

Suitable candidates should be HCPC registered  and have a determination to improve the lives of older adults with acute mental health difficulties. Prior experience in working with severe mental health problems is essential and experience of working with older adults is desirable. Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with this clinical group is also essential.

The successful applicant will be managed by and offered clinical supervision from the Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the service and also the Psychological Professions Lead for Acute Services.

 

The older adult acute inpatient environment often deals with acute crisis and distress. The psychologist will demonstrate passion for working with people with acute mental health difficulties and  will be an effective communicator and be able to work effectively as part of wider multidisciplinary team.

The successful applicant will be required to work into the ward team providing a range of assessment and intervention work through established and well governed clinical pathways.  A key part of the role will be supporting and embedding formulation within the service and support colleagues to understand and use formulation to effectively plan clinical interventions.

There will be an expectation that the post holder will complete psychological assessments, formulations and intervention across a range of clinical presentations, they will also be expected to work at a systemic level as well as an individual level and have a willingness to support the learning of others in the team through teaching an training.
