British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter (RSLI) - Remote Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) | Permanent

Salary: £45,000 per annum (full-time) + benefits (pro rata for part-time)

Location: Fully remote/home-based - anywhere in the UK

Hours: Full-time and part-time (set shifts available)

Clients/Sector: NHS, Local Authorities & wider Public Sector

We're recruiting a

fully qualified Level 6 BSL/English Interpreter (RSLI) for a

permanent, fully remote Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) service. You'll provide accurate, impartial interpreting on

live video calls, supporting Deaf and hard of hearing service users across the UK in

healthcare and public sector settings.

What you'll be doing

Interpret

BSL ↔ spoken English on live video appointments (on-demand VRI service)

Support a wide range of interactions including

NHS and local authority appointments

Work to the highest standards of

accuracy, confidentiality, safeguarding and impartiality

Operate within a Monday-Friday service (

no evenings, weekends or bank holidays)

Shift patterns available

Full-time (1 vacancy):

Monday-Friday

9:00am-5:00pm (excluding bank holidays)

Part-time (1 vacancy):

Wednesday

12:30pm-4:00pm

Thursday

8:00am-4:00pm

Friday

8:00am-4:00pm

Alternative hours may be considered for the right candidate.

Essential criteria (please apply only if you meet all)

You must have:

Current registration with NRCPD or RBSLI and

RSLI status (and able to maintain annual re-registration)

A recognised interpreting qualification:

MA / PGDip / NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent) in

BSL/English Interpreting/Translating

Level 6 / honours degree level (or equivalent) in your

second language (typically BSL)

Proven experience interpreting within

public sector environments (e.g.,

NHS, local authorities)

Strong

IT confidence and comfort working professionally in a remote setting

Willingness to wear a

company-issued uniform while on duty

Home & technical requirements (required for remote VRI)

To be considered, you must have:

quiet, professional home workspace (free from background noise/interruptions)

High-speed broadband: minimum

5 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload

Space for a

5 ft x 7 ft backdrop

wired internet connection (

no Wi‑Fi, modem/router connected directly to device)
