Summary
Experienced PA Required to Support a Gentleman within the Home and in the Community - Flexible Working Hours Available - SMB-DCC- 001 - Chesterfield, S40
An experienced and compassionate Personal Assistant (PA) is required to support a gentleman who has paralysis affecting half of the left side of his body and is on the spectrum.
The individual requiring support is a wheelchair user and requires 24/7 support.
The individual is currently supported by 5 other PAs - you will be able to work as part of a team but also be comfortable with lone working and using your initiative. For some activities out of the home the individual will require 3 carers.
Roles and Responsibilities
As a wheelchair user with paralysis affecting the left side of his body, he requires support with a range of daily living activities. The role includes providing personal care, including assistance with showering, dressing, grooming.
The Personal Assistant will prepare and cook meals, assist with household duties such as laundry, ironing, cleaning, and maintaining a safe, comfortable, and tidy home environment.
The successful candidate will accompany him to group activities within his supported living setting, community events, fundraising activities, and family occasions. They will also support him to access the community as often as possible.
The individual is a passionate Everton supporter and you may have to accompany him on trips to Liverpool to watch Everton play. This is an optional part of the role as the existing team currently support with this.
About Me
The individual requiring support is on the spectrum, he has epilepsy and is semi paralysed and the left side.
Hobbies and Interests
The individual also attends lots of community events and each year organises a charity tombola.
The individual requiring support is a passionate Everton FC fan and enjoys watching television, particularly football.
Every year, he takes part in a sponsored marathon walk to raise money for charity. This year, he is fundraising for an epilepsy charity, a cause that is very important to him.
He enjoys being actively involved in his local community and regularly attends community events. Each year he also organises a charity tombola to help raise funds for good causes.
