Summary
We are looking for a Personal Assistant to support a lovely 16-year-old young man who has severe learning disabilities and requires a high level of assistance.
He is non-verbal, has limited movement and suffers from epilepsy.
On a daily basis, duties will include assisting with dressing, hoisting into a chair, providing frequent postural changes, administering medication, delivering personal care, catheter use, chest physiotherapy, nebuliser use and monitoring for seizure activity. All food and fluids are administered using a PEG.
While hoists and manual handling aids are provided, it is essential that applicants are able to offer physical support when necessary, including encouraging and prompting to engage in play activities.
The role is for 10 hours a week daytime shifts. Start times are flexible, and the currently available days are Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The successful applicant must be able to use their own initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
• Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
• Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
Only candidates aged 18 or over should apply for this position as you will be required to administer medication.
The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.
