Summary

Paediatric Critical Care (PCC) at OUHincludes 17 co-located Level 2 and 3 critical care beds, delivering a wide range of specialist services to patients from Oxfordshire and the wider Thames Valley and Wessex Paediatric Critical Care Operational Delivery Network (TVW PCC ODN). We are a leading Neurosurgical and Major Trauma Centre and have a vast number of medical and surgical specialities. The unit is undergoing an exciting period of estate and workforce development and investment, with a move into newly built unit within the next 5 years. SORT Retrieval ServiceOUH PCC Services include the SORT (Southampton Oxford Retrieval Team) service, delivered in collaboration with Southampton across TVW PCC ODN. It is staffed by doctors, ACPs and nurses from both Oxford and Southampton, with Oxford providing a retrieval team 24/7. Critical Care Outreach Serviceis a team of experienced nurses who support all healthcare professionals in the assessment and management of unwell children across the childrens hospital, emergency department, and neonatal unit, following up and supporting children and families following discharge. Education, Development and Trainingis provided through a structured competency-based development programme, and we are piloting an inhouse PCC L3 specialist course for nursing staff. Clinical and leadership career development pathways are available. We have a growing team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners who work across PCCU and SORT services at OUH. The successful candidate will be able to work well within the team and be willing to work a mixed shift pattern including days and nights across the whole week. They will have demonstrable relevant post registration experience with a relevant accredited course for Paediatric Critical Care. They will be a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent clinical and communication skills, with an ability to lead and motivate others. They will also enjoy teaching and supporting junior staff as well as pre and post registration students. Please see attached Job Description and Person Specification for full details of the role.
