Summary
Deal efficiently and effectively with direct and indirect (i.e. telephone, face to face)enquiries from all levels of medical and nursing staff, Social Services and otherhealth professionals and staff and patients and their families. Respond tocomplexenquiries, providing routine and non-routine information and non- clinical advice,resolving problems where possible. Communicate appropriately with patientsand their relatives who may be fearful, aggressive or have sensitive concerns,needing reassurance and who may present difficulties in communication e.g.terminally ill patients, deaf patients, mentally ill patients andelderly confusedpatients. To sensitively provide and receive complex information using tact andadapting communication style to meet the needs of individual levels ofunderstanding. Recognise the importance of individual rightsin accordance withlegislation, policy and procedures Attend to all communications, for example, emails, faxes, investigationresults/information on a daily basis. Use judgement to undertake a preliminaryassessment of content to determine the appropriate course of action and thepriority for the Governance Teams attention Accurately transcribe all correspondence by touch typing from audio/digitaldictation or shorthand using knowledge of medical terminology. Generateroutineand non-routine correspondence independently To develop, implement and maintain office systems to enable the GovernanceTeam to operate smoothly and effectively, this will include developing andmaintaining databases and office procedures information Use of e-mail, electronic diaries, intranet/internet, word processing Providing general clerical duties including filing and photocopying Working on projects as directed by the Operational Manager. Arranging a variety of meetings, workshops and presentations Organise and support higher level meetings, such as medical and nursingdivisional governance meetings, and directorate governance meetings on behalfof the Clinical Governance Manager or other senior staff, including attending totake formal minutes as necessary, and the distribution of agendas andassociated papers for review Any other duties deemed appropriate to the banding of this role Please refer to the Job Description for the full specification of responsibilities and requirements for this post.
