Summary
Demonstrate highly developed nursing skills with a proportion of time being devoted to clinical practice to ensure best practice and standards are embedded. To work as an independent and autonomous expert practitioner providing expert advice and support to clinical areas providing specialist advice and opinion following assessment of the situation. Contribute to MDT decision-making for complex children and young people, including children and young people with specialist educational needs and those with mental health concerns. To undertake clinical site/department/service visits to support the clinical assurance process in ensuring the care and treatment of CYP meets the Trust policy and standard operating procedures To facilitate and challenge clinical practice and processes and involve relevant staff in improving patient experience and outcome. Developing approaches for the utilisation of best practice and research evidence which supports nursing and improves patient experience To provide assurance that systems and processes are in place to monitor patient safety, clinical and quality performance and to take remedial action when required Provide consultancy both within the Trust and externally for partner organisations as an acute care CYP clinical expert. Work at the forefront of practice innovation, creating precedence, generating, monitoring, and evaluating practice protocols to advance professional practice. Function at an advanced level of practice operating as an autonomous role model in order to provide expert patient care and develop own and others knowledge. Undertake assessments to inform safe, high quality risk management and care planning. Work in liaison with colleagues to drive improvements in patient care, taking appropriate opportunity to consult with patients and carers, formally and informally. Use professional judgement to support decisions on clinical and professional standards Adhere to and have working knowledge of relevant CYP legislative frameworks ensuring CHFT policies and guidance are compliant with this legislation. To participate in the trusts senior nursing leadership rota which includes weekend working. Work out of hours as required to support service needs or in response to a specific concern that warrants senior leadership level oversight; this may include occasional night working.
