Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly organised and motivated individual to join the Cardiothoracic Centre at Basildon Hospital as a Cardiothoracic MDT Co‑ordinator.

This pivotal role supports the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care through coordination of the Cardiothoracic Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT). The post holder will ensure the smooth running of MDT meetings, preparing documentation, coordinating imaging, and ensuring all relevant clinical information is available to support timely decision-making.

Working closely with consultants, clinical nurse specialists and multidisciplinary teams across multiple sites, the MDT Co‑ordinator will play a key role in managing patient pathways, maintaining accurate MDT records, and ensuring outcomes are communicated promptly. The role also contributes to audit, data quality and service improvement, making it integral to service governance.

This is a 12-month fixed-term post with a strong likelihood of becoming permanent, subject to funding approval.

This role would suit an experienced administrator with excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience within an MDT or complex healthcare setting is desirable.

The post holder plays a key role in ensuring patients receive seamless, high-quality care by coordinating multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, managing referrals and patient pathways, and maintaining accurate patient lists. Working closely with clinical teams, they will ensure all relevant clinical information and imaging is available ahead of meetings, accurately capture outcomes and decisions, and support the efficient progression of patient care. Through meticulous data management, the role also contributes to service improvement, audit requirements, and clinical governance, helping to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
