SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: King's Lynn, Norfolk
Salary: £14.50 - £16 per hour (dependant on experience)
Contract Type: Temp to Perm
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30
Start Date: October 2026
We are seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant with a proven track record of supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Your responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
Support students with SEMH needs and additional challenges both academically and emotionally
Build positive and trusting relationships to help young people regulate emotions and feel safe
Assist teachers with personalised lesson plans and interventions
Promote positive behaviour strategies and help reduce the need for physical interventions
Work with therapists, teachers and specialists to ensure every child receives consistent, thoughtful care
What we're looking for:
Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within SEMH or SEND settings
Strong understanding of supporting children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals
Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice
