Summary

Clinical Duties Undertake routine and urgent patient consultations. Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions. Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and video consultations as appropriate. Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services. Prescribe safely and effectively in accordance with local and national guidelines. Promote health education, prevention, and self-management. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and comprehensive clinical records. Administrative Duties The post holder will have allocated admin time within their sessions to undertake: Reviewing and actioning pathology and investigation results. Processing clinical correspondence and hospital letters. Managing prescriptions and medication reviews. Completing referral forms and associated documentation. Reviewing tasks and workflow generated through patient contacts. Responding to clinical queries from practice staff. Completing insurance reports and other non-NHS work by mutual agreement. On-Call Responsibilities Participate in the practice duty doctor/on-call rota for one day per week. Provide clinical leadership for urgent same-day patient requests. Support GPs, nursing staff, and the wider multidisciplinary team with urgent clinical advice. Manage urgent clinical correspondence and enquiries arising during the on-call period. Ensure timely assessment of patients requiring same-day intervention. Team Working Work collaboratively with practice nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, physician associates, care coordinators, and administrative staff. Participate in practice meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings. Support the teaching and supervision of trainees, medical students, and other healthcare professionals where appropriate. Quality and Governance Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement activities. Contribute to the achievement of QOF and enhanced service targets. Maintain compliance with GMC standards and professional revalidation requirements. Adhere to all practice policies relating to safeguarding, information governance, infection control, and health and safety.
