Summary

a) Utilise local attendance data to inform coordination, within a geographical area the implementation of the work plan of the team, with Area Leads and Coordinators b) Advocates, as required, on behalf of the patient in a variety of settings to ensure their needs are met appropriately. c) Acts as role model of the immunisation service for junior staff and students, and other professionals, by providing excellence in nursing. d) Act as a mentor for student nurses in the team. e) Establish and maintain contact with a number of clinics, or other venues, to ensure immunisations are administered in a safe environment within a geographical area, and pro-vide high quality care to individuals, including undertaking risk assessment of new venues. f) Responsible for maintaining and updating own clinical practice and knowledge, including professional portfolio. g) Enable parents/guardians and young people to make the informed choice to consent by ensuring appropriate information is provided. Where appropriate, this will include completing the Services Gillick Competency Assessment. h) Working within a clinical governance framework and under the indirect supervision of the Clinical Lead Nurse, participate in professional meetings, clinical audit, evidence based practice and contribute to the development of procedures and protocols. i) To critically reflect on own practice through clinical supervision, coaching or mentoring. j) Ensure Policy and practice, developed nationally and across the Immunisation service, is disseminated through your local team, via team meetings and other communication channels, and participate in evaluating and improving local service procedures. k) Participate in own clinical supervision and group supervision. Provide, as a supervisor, clinical supervision and performance development reviews across the wider team, annually and at regular intervals throughout the year. l) Lead on local team induction, training programmes, revalidation, and core immunisations competency assessments of clinical nursing skills for nursing and administrative staff and student nurses. m) Responsible for monitoring the quality of work in own area, alerting Area Leads, Clinical Lead Nurse and Deputy Operational Head of Service, to any clinical, management and/or quality issues, and provide monthly team reports to the senior management team. n) Undertake programmes of training to gain and maintain a level of professional competence, assessed annually. o) Ensure vaccines and vaccine fridges are maintained in the local area. p) Assist Area Leads and Clinical Lead nurse in recruitment of staff, lead on sickness management, probation, personnel issues including contract changes, conduct and capability. q) Oversight of procurement of stationery, equipment and venue hire for local team, ensure vaccine requirements are kept up to date for all school and clinic settings. r) Monitor and coordinate annual leave and time of in lieu (TOIL) for local team.
