Summary

The Paediatric Critical Care area at QMC admitted 498 patients in 2024 (420 emergencies). We deliver around 5000 (4999 in 2024) bed days per year, of which 2584 invasively ventilated (ETT and tracheostomy) and 2415 NIV bed days. Our PIM3 adjusted SMR FOR 2021-2023 was ~ 0.80. We support a variety of specialist services including: Supra-regional nephrology and renal replacement treatment, including kidney transplants Supra-regional spinal surgery Regional neurosurgery Regional oncology The busiest Major Trauma Centre in the UK Regional neurology Regional paediatric ENT Regional general paediatric surgery
