Summary

The purpose of the Warehouse Operative role is to ensure the efficient, safe, and accurate handling of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods within the food manufacturing supply chain / warehouse. This includes receiving and storing stock, supplying production with required materials, and preparing goods for dispatch while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and traceability. The role supports continuous production flow, helps maintain stock accuracy, and ensures that customer orders are fulfilled on time and in full.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Goods In, Stock Handling & Dispatch

• Receive, check, and store deliveries of raw materials, packaging, and consumables.

• Carry out accurate checks against delivery paperwork.

• Label and record stock according to internal procedures and traceability requirements.

• Book stock into the warehouse system

• Prepare and palletise finished goods for dispatch

• Load vehicles safely in line with transport and customer requirements.

• Pick and prepare customer orders safely and accurately

• Load and unload deliveries using pallet trucks or forklifts (if licensed).

• Ensure finished goods are stored correctly and dispatched on time.

• Complete all dispatch documentation and update inventory systems.

Quality & Food Safety Compliance

• Ensure all products meet established quality standards and customer specifications.

• Conduct product and process checks; escalate issues promptly.

• Operate equipment such as pallet trucks, forklifts (if trained/licensed), and scanners safely.

• Maintain a clean and hygienic warehouse environment in line with HACCP, BRCGS, or other food safety standards.

• Report any damaged, contaminated, or out-of-date stock immediately.

Team Development & Coaching

• Conduct regular stock checks and report discrepancies.

• Maintain accurate stock records and support stock takes.

• Ensure traceability of ingredients and products at all stages.

Operational Support

• Assist production teams by supplying raw materials and packaging to the factory floor.

• Assist with implementation of new equipment, processes, or technologies.

The Successful Candidate will be:

• Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and commitment to meeting daily operational targets.

• Detail‑oriented, ensuring accuracy in picking, packing, and stock control.

• Safety‑focused, consistently following food hygiene, GMP, and Health & Safety procedures.

• A good communicator, able to work closely with production, quality, and logistics teams.

• Comfortable with manual handling, lifting, and working in a fast‑paced warehouse environment.

• Organised and proactive, able to prioritise tasks and respond quickly to changing production needs.

• Safety‑conscious, consistently promoting and supporting a safe working environment.

• Eager to learn, open to training such as forklift operation or food safety requirements.

• Adaptable, able to work across different areas of the warehouse and across different shifts when needed.

• The successful candidate will have strong IT literacy and be confident using office and online tools.

• A positive role model, who leads by example, shows integrity, and reinforces company values at all times.

• Able to work with passion, pride and pace at all times.
