Based: Harston, Cambridgeshire

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Registered Children’s Manager to help open and lead a new solo home in Harston, Cambridgeshire.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the culture, team and outcomes from day one, while working for a charity that invests everything back into young people, your team and you.

At Break, our children’s homes are more than just places to live - they are warm, welcoming environments where young people feel safe, cared for, and truly valued. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we’re seeking a leader who shares that belief wholeheartedly.

As the Registered Manager of one of our Solo children’s home you will:

Lead and shape a brand-new children’s home, creating a positive and nurturing environment from the very beginning.

Join the experienced Care Management Team, alongside sixteen other managers, including four managing solo or dual homes, and lead a team passionate about nurturing each child’s potential.

Lead and develop a team using your experience and Break’s model of trauma-informed, child-centred care that underpins everything we do. Our homes focus on emotional, physical, educational, and social wellbeing so that young people can thrive.

Collaborate with Break’s Therapeutic Team who provide advice, tools and support to embed trauma-informed nurturing care. You’ll also have the opportunity to access regular clinical supervision.

Provide effective support to staff, including reflective supervision, guidance and annual appraisals, using Break’s extensive specialist workforce training programmes to grow and develop your team.

Work in partnership with children and young people, their families and friends, other colleagues and external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for each child.

Work collaboratively with Break’s Staying Connected service to support smooth transitions when young people leave care, benefiting from our lifelong commitment to them.

Benefit from over 50 years of Break’s innovative practice, an experienced Head of Service, strong peer support and excellent learning and development opportunities.

What we’re looking for:

Strong experience in children’s residential care and leadership.

Minimum of a relevant qualification (minimum of a childcare related Diploma at Level 3)

A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic parenting

approaches.

A commitment to creating a safe, stable, and homely environment where children feel they belong.

Excellent partnership working with colleagues, external professionals and families.

A passion for continuous improvement and supporting teams to deliver the highest level of care.

At Break we care differently. Our mission is to walk alongside children and young people in, around and leaving care, offering life-long support that helps them build confidence, strong relationships and a future full of possibility. If you’re ready to lead with heart, vision and expertise, we’d love to hear from you.

In your role, you’ll have access to the following benefits:

Free, career-enhancing qualifications

A “golden hello” scheme welcoming you to our services, with £2500 paid to you one month after your start date and a second £2500 at the six-month mark. (Subject to conditions and not available to candidates referred by recruitment agencies)
