Summary

Support Worker (Part-Time)

Location: Girvan

Hours: 5 hours per week

Rate of Pay: £13.45

About the Role

A compassionate, patient and reliable Support Worker is required to provide one-to-one support for a young woman living in Girvan.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support someone to rebuild confidence, regain everyday skills and promote independence within her own home and local community.

About the Role

The successful applicant will support the young woman to maintain and develop daily living skills that have become limited over the past year. The focus of the role is to encourage independence, build confidence and provide reassurance in a supportive and person-centred way.

Support will include:

• Encouraging confidence with personal care.

• Supporting independence in the kitchen and bathroom.

• Assisting with dressing and choosing weather-appropriate clothing.

• Supporting with light household tasks, including placing laundry in the basket or washing machine.

• Preparing light meals and picnics in line with her vegan diet, with guidance from her dietitian.

• Providing companionship and encouragement to access the local community.

• Supporting her to feel safe both at home and when out and about.

• Using patience and reassurance to help overcome social anxiety and build confidence.

About the Individual

She enjoys spending time in nature, particularly beach walks and picnics, and loves being by the seaside. She also enjoys reading and completing crosswords.

This role would suit someone who is kind, encouraging and understands the importance of building trust at the individual’s own pace.

About You

The ideal applicant will be:

• Caring, patient and empathetic.

• Calm and encouraging.

• Committed to promoting independence and confidence.

• A driver with access to a vehicle (essential).

• Able to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Additional Information

• Driver essential.

• The successful applicant will be required to complete a PVG Scheme check through Disclosure Scotland.

• Two satisfactory references will be required, including one from your most recent employer.

• This post is subject to a six-month probationary period.
