Summary

Our client, a reputable commercial vehicle operation in Ilkeston, is seeking to appoint a skilled HGV Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced HGV Technicians to work within a stable and supportive workshop environment, offering long-term job security and ongoing technical development.

Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire

Salary: Up to £45,000 Basic + Bonus + Benefits

Hours: 45 Hours Per Week

Contract: 24 Month Fixed-Term Contract (Likely Extension)

Duties of the HGV Technician:

- Servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and LCVs

- Preparing and presenting vehicles for MOT testing

- Conducting six-week safety inspections and scheduled servicing

- Diagnosing faults using modern workshop diagnostic tools

- Mechanical and cosmetic repairs as required

- Completing warranty repairs aligned with manufacturer guidelines

- Replacing and fitting vehicle components safely and efficiently

- Providing breakdown support when necessary

- Maintaining accurate workshop documentation and compliance records

- Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with DVSA and company standards

Requirements of the HGV Technician:

- Proven experience working on HGVs within a commercial fleet environment

- Experience working on LCVs advantageous

- City & Guilds Commercial Vehicle qualification or equivalent preferred

- HGV driver’s licence beneficial but not essential

- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills

- Reliable, hardworking, and well-organised approach

- Positive attitude with a willingness to develop skills

- Excellent communication skills and team-oriented mentality

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment
