Job title - Associate Lecturer College/Directorate - HWLS / School of Health and Social Care Grade - 7 Reports to - Associate Head Direct reports - None Role Profile - AS002 Associate Lecturer generic responsibilities Grade 7 Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Design and deliver, high quality and challenging learning experiences that equip students with the skills and knowledge required by employers. Teach specifically identified subjects and topics related to a defined area of work. Provide effective and efficient teaching to approved courses through lecture, seminar or tutorial modes of delivery. Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to students by setting and marking coursework, assignments and examinations. Contribute to the development of resource material. Ensure that appropriate learning materials are prepared in advance of delivery and assignments are undertaken by students in a timely manner Keep up to date with knowledge of your subject area. Student Support Develop a sense of purpose and harmonious working within assigned student groups. Provide appropriate academic, technical and pastoral care by supporting the work of individual students and referring them where appropriate to relevant support staff. Act, when required, as tutor to a group of students, providing effective academic, technical and pastoral care. Teamwork and Communication Work with colleagues in developing the provision within the faculty. Work within a team to promote the development of curriculum practices of benefit to students and the University Participate in appropriate quality assurance procedures of the faculty. Make a positive contribution to the overall development of the department and faculty Ensure the implementation of all University policies including those relevant to teaching, health and safety and quality assurance. Demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities. Undertake administration and provide reports and statistics regarding student and teaching matters as required. Attend faculty meetings as required. Undertake and attend appropriate developmental activity such as appraisals and training as required. This list is not comprehensive we may ask you to carry out other duties appropriate to your grade. Location This role is based at Collegiate Campus, a leafy suburban setting off the bustling Ecclesall Road. Selection event Our selection event will take place on Friday 18th September 2026. The selection event will include: an interview a microteaching session We would like you to prepare and deliver a 10-minute micro teach on an ultrasound case study of your choice using a specific pathology. This will be delivered to the panel and should be aimed at a level 7 post-registration student audience. We want our selection process to be as inclusive as possible for everyone.
