Job Overview
SHIFT PATTERN 4 ON 4 OFF - NIGHTS/DAYS
-To protect our customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any subsequent changes.
-Delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key performance indicators / Service Level Agreement for the customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the contract.
-To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development.
Main Duties
Operations
-
-Responsible for using X-Ray machines to identifying dangerous objects in baggage/wings and preventing those objects from being transported onto aircraft.
-Maintain focus and awareness within an environment containing numerous distractions, people, and noise.
-Operation of x-ray machines, physical inspection of baggage and people.
-Work within a demanding environment, which includes noise from alarms, machinery, people, distractions, time pressure and the requirement to identify and locate potentially life-threatening devices and devices intended on creating massive destruction.
-Make effective decisions in both crisis and routine situations.
-An other duties as directed by the Aviation Supervisor, Aviation Service Delivery Manager or National Operations Manager.
Physical Elements of the role
-The Aviation Security Officer role is a physical one, with an average level of fitness and must be maintained.
- It is a requirement of Mitie to complete an airside driving medical every 3 years.
-The company must be informed of any prescribed medication likely to affect your performance whilst at work and operates a robust Drugs and Alcohol policy. Refer to the company Staff Handbook for additional information or speak to your Line Manager

Your Conduct - On a Daily Basis
Your commitment and attitude to safety is critical. You will be required to adhere to all safety and security protocols and principles across the customer site and ensure your teams do the same. You must always behave in a way that keeps yourself and others safe and set expectation of the same high standard from your team.

Expectation is that you will be competent when dealing with any incident. You must be able to handle stressful situations and you will be a settling/calming influence in a crisis.

Dress and appearance must be appropriate to the role and activity you are undertaking. The company recognises the right to individual expression. However, body modifications are expected to be removable or covered up, whilst on duty. Where modifications cannot be covered up, they should not be offensive in nature.
A change of shift, for operational purposes, may be invoked at short notice to meet the requirements of the business. This is not to be interpreted as a change of shift rota.
TRAINING
-Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.
-To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Security Account Manager.
-Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.
-You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.
Security and Health & Safety
-Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
-Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
-Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
-To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
-Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
-Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
-To ensure check calls are being carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions (AI's).
-To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.
The environment in which you will be working;
-You could be working for prolonged periods in relatively climatic changing environments.
-You will be required to work permanent days or nights shift pattern subject to the role applied for (discuss at interview stage) and you may be required to stay late at short notice should the circumstances require it, for example where an aircraft arrival or departure is delayed.
-You will work constructively and proactively with a variety of teams and departments within customer, combined with external organisations. You will be expected to seek opportunities to work collaboratively with other teams, to model respectful and helpful behaviours.
What we are looking for
-Previous experience is essential and likely to have gained in an aviation and/or industrial environment.
-The post-holder is required to be educated to a satisfactory standard, physically fit, well-presented and hold a current driving license that is free of endorsement.
- Flexibility in working hours and IT literacy are essential to meet the requirements of the department.
-SIA License PREFFERED but not essential
-Must have a full driving licence (automatic acceptable)
-5-year checkable history.
-Capable of achieving an SC and CTC clearance
