Summary
BBS Recruitment is an independent recruitment agency for transport and logistics sector, supplying to a variety of clients across UK.
We are currently recruiting a Housing Register Officer for our client based in Redbridge.
Responsibilities for Housing Register Officer:
• Assess Housing Register applications and re-registrations, determining eligibility, effective dates, priority and medical needs.
• Assess non-qualifying applicants and provide clear advice on alternative housing options.
• Provide comprehensive housing advice and support, with a focus on homelessness prevention and sustainable outcomes.
• Coordinate the advertising and allocation of council and Registered Provider properties through Choice Based Lettings and direct matching.
• Verify applicants’ circumstances, including eligibility, finances, local connection and suitability, through interviews, home visits and desktop checks.
• Allocate and nominate applicants for permanent, temporary and private rented accommodation in line with relevant policies and suitability requirements.
• Complete direct matching for vulnerable applicants, including those requiring adaptations, hospital discharges, sheltered accommodation and management transfers.
• Manage accommodation offers, refusals, viewings and lettings, ensuring all processes and records are accurately maintained.
• Identify support needs and make referrals to tenancy sustainment, floating support, resettlement and specialist services.
• Advise customers on housing policies, mobility schemes and alternative housing options.
• Maintain accurate case records, electronic files, monitoring information and audit trails across housing and homelessness systems.
• Work collaboratively with council departments, Registered Providers, statutory agencies and external partners to achieve positive housing outcomes.
• Handle customer enquiries, complaints and correspondence from applicants, advocates, solicitors, councillors and MPs.
• Apply relevant housing legislation, statutory guidance and Council policies, including the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Contribute to service improvement, performance monitoring, reporting and effective management of allocation deadlines.
• Provide advice through telephone, face-to-face interviews, correspondence and home visits, ensuring a professional and customer-focused service.
• Participate in telephone advice rotas and undertake other duties appropriate to the role.
