The Opportunity

This post represents an exciting opportunity for a motivated Property Manager to join a team of staff in Keele University’s Estate & Campus Services Directorate.

With an estate of circa 620 acres (250 hectares), comprising academic buildings, sports pitches and facilities, student accommodation, pockets of general housing, commercial science and business accommodation, extensive woodland and lakes, and pasture land, the Directorate is responsible for delivering the day-to-day aspects of a live/work camps. The Directorate is responsible for strategic planning, procurement, delivery and successful handover of major building projects on campus, as well as maintenance of the existing facilities. Projects range from refurbishments, extensions to existing buildings and the construction of new buildings. Our teams also deliver a wide range of services, such as conferences and events, landscaping of the grounds, cleaning, maintenance and environmental management.

The postholder will lead the management of Keele University’s estate (both owned, leased, commercial and residential) ensuring its smooth day-to-day running, as well as ensuring that it is managed as a strategic asset to support the University’s campus masterplans. The postholder will manage the professional property aspects of Keele University’s current property portfolio and develop proposals for further acquisitions and disposals. Key to this is representing the University’s property interests with a range of external providers and stakeholders across Keele University’s campus.

The postholder will be qualified to a degree standard in Real Estate, Property Management or a similar qualification, and hold a Chartered Surveyor (RICS) qualification in the relevant professional discipline with significant post qualification experience. The postholder will also have experience of working ‘client side’ with a large and varied public sector estate portfolio, along with experience of leading on successful property negotiation with business partners and senior stakeholders.
