Summary

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic midwife to join our team for a 6 month secondment.

TheleadMidwifefordiabeteswillbeanintegralpartoftheservicedrivingforwardthediabetesinpregnancy,birthandthepostnatalsafetyinitiativesandsupportingacultureofindividualisedcarethatpromotesasafeandpositivepregnancyandbirthexperience.

Thepostholderwillbepassionateandexperiencedinworkingwithwomenwithdiabetes,providingdirectmaternitycaretothesewomeninconjunctionwiththeObstetricians,Diabetesconsultants,DiabeticSpecialistNurses,Dieticianandwidermultidisciplinaryteams(MDT).Workingcollaborativelywith the individual woman the role will assess,plan,implementand coordinate their maternity carepathway.

Theroleincludesregularinputonthewardsandsupportingtheinpatientcareofwomen.Thepostholderwillworkautonomouslyandwithinateam.ThisrolealsoincorporatestrainingandeducationofthehealthcareprofessionalsinthemanagementandcareofwomenwithDiabetesinPregnancy.

Responsible for the operational management of the service and ensure staff have adequate support toenablethemtofocusontheircoreresponsibilities

The individual will undertake the key functions of theband 7 role,ensuring the women’s and birthingpeople’sexperienceisofthehighestpossiblestandardatalltimes,withparticularemphasisontheprovisionofdignifiedandcompassionatecare,whichisdeliveredinasafeandcleanenvironment.

ThepostholderwillworkwiththeHeadofMidwifery andtheSeniorManagementTeamindevelopingand implementing a divisional strategy achieve the Trusts objectives and ensure that effectivegovernance arrangements are implemented and maintained.

• Implementandsupportdeliveryoftheeducationpackagetoenablewomentoundertakeblood glucose monitoring and recording of this with an application such as the GDM-Healthapp

• Organise follow up visits and triaging of women whoare on-boarded ontothe GDM-health

• Referasappropriateanywomentothemultidisciplinary team.

• Assistwithreviewofthewomenwithdiabetesinpregnancyin allinpatientandoutpatientclinicalareasasrequired
