Summary

Secondary Teachers - All Subjects

Location: Torquay, Devon

Roles Available: Supply | Long-Term | Permanent

Employer: Thrive Recruitment Group

Teach Your Subject. Expand Your Experience. Shape Your Future.

A teaching career can take many different directions. Sometimes the best way to decide what comes next is to experience something new.

Thrive Recruitment Group is looking for Secondary Teachers across all subject areas in Torquay, with opportunities ranging from flexible supply work through to long-term and permanent positions.

Whether you want to broaden your classroom experience, explore different schools, establish yourself as an ECT or find a position where you can progress over the longer term, we'll work with you to identify opportunities suited to your goals.

What Could Your Next Role Give You?

Changing schools or trying a different type of teaching position can introduce you to new pupils, colleagues, teaching approaches and responsibilities.

It could give you the opportunity to:

- Strengthen your classroom management

- Teach across different Key Stages

- Develop your subject and curriculum knowledge

- Experience different school cultures

- Work with a wider range of pupils

- Build confidence as an Early Career Teacher

- Explore additional departmental responsibilities

- Prepare for future subject or pastoral leadership

- Find a school where you can see yourself progressing

For experienced teachers, it can also be a chance to reassess what you want from the next stage of your career.

Your Role in the Classroom

You'll use your subject knowledge and teaching skills to create an environment where pupils are encouraged to participate, think independently and make progress.

Depending on the position, you'll be responsible for:

- Delivering high-quality lessons within your subject specialism

- Planning and adapting learning for different abilities

- Establishing clear expectations and classroom routines

- Managing behaviour positively and consistently

- Assessing understanding and identifying areas for development

- Encouraging pupils to take pride in their progress

- Supporting students with different learning needs

- Working collaboratively with departmental colleagues

- Contributing to the wider life of the school

Every Subject Has a Place

We're recruiting across the secondary curriculum.

Whether you teach Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, Modern Foreign Languages, PE, Computing, Design & Technology, Art, Drama, Music, Business Studies, Religious Education or another secondary subject, we'd like to hear from you.

Applications are welcomed from ECTs, experienced teachers and teachers returning to the classroom.

Choose How You Want to Work

Your career doesn't have to follow one fixed route.

Supply opportunities can give you flexibility and the chance to experience different schools without immediately making a long-term commitment.

Long-term roles offer greater consistency and the opportunity to become an established member of a department while developing relationships with pupils and colleagues.

Permanent positions can provide the stability and professional development opportunities you need to build the next stage of your career.

We'll talk to you about what you're actually looking for before considering which opportunities might suit you.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally:

- Hold QTS or an appropriate equivalent qualification

- Have strong subject and curriculum knowledge

- Communicate confidently with secondary-aged pupils

- Create positive and purposeful learning environments

- Manage behaviour effectively

- Adapt your teaching for different abilities and needs

- Work well with colleagues

- Be reliable, professional and organised

- Be committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

Most importantly, you should care about helping young people develop confidence in your subject.

Progression Can Mean Different Things

For one teacher, career development might mean becoming a Head of Department.

For another, it could mean gaining experience teaching GCSE classes, taking on pastoral responsibility or moving into curriculum leadership.

And for someone else, progression might simply mean finding a school where they enjoy teaching again.

Thrive Recruitment Group will support you in finding opportunities that reflect your priorities rather than assuming every teacher wants the same thing.

You'll have access to:

- Secondary teaching opportunities across Torquay

- Supply, long-term and permanent positions

- Roles across different subject areas

- Opportunities suitable for ECTs and experienced teachers

- Competitive rates of pay

- Weekly pay

- Honest and straightforward communication

- Support throughout your search for the right position

What's Your Next Teaching Goal?

You have already invested in becoming a teacher. Your next role should help you build on that experience.

If you're a Secondary Teacher in Torquay and you're ready to explore what your next career move could look like, we'd like to hear from you.

Submit your CV today and start a conversation with Thrive Recruitment Group about where your teaching career could take you next.
