We are working with one of the largest and most highly regarded special schools in Europe - an Outstanding-rated school in Walthamstow with an international reputation for expertise, curriculum innovation and professional development. With a deeply rooted commitment to enjoyment, achievement and wellbeing for all, this is a school where every pupil has a personalised learning pathway and every teacher is genuinely valued.
This is a long-term opportunity starting in September, supporting secondary-aged pupils aged 11-19 with Autism and complex communication needs, in a school that has built its entire culture around helping young people grow, communicate and thrive.
What You'll Be Doing
- Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with Autism and complex learning needs
- Supporting the development of communication, independence and life skills across the curriculum
- Writing and reviewing EHCPs and personalised learning plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Creating a structured, nurturing classroom environment where pupils feel safe and motivated
- Working alongside therapists, support staff and families to ensure the best outcomes for every pupil
What We're Looking For
- QTS and experience teaching in a special or SEN school setting
- Confidence working with pupils with Autism and complex communication needs at secondary level
- A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential and grow in independence
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
- A collaborative team player who reflects the school's values of enjoyment, achievement and wellbeing
