We are looking for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Major Projects team and develop their career within a thriving and resilient sector.

Whether you are recently qualified, working towards a professional qualification, or already gaining experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure or utilities, this role will provide exposure to major projects, experienced mentors and excellent long-term career opportunities.

The RoleAs an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Junior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of major infrastructure projects across the UK.

Working alongside experienced commercial professionals, project managers and delivery teams, you will gain hands-on experience across all aspects of quantity surveying, including cost management, contract administration, subcontractor management, change control and commercial reporting.

Main Duties

-Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial Support

-Assist the commercial team with the day-to-day management of project finances and commercial activities.

-Support the preparation of project cost reports, forecasts and budgets.

-Assist in producing Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and cash flow forecasts.

-Help monitor project performance against budgets and targets.

-Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation.

Contract Administration

-Assist with the administration of NEC, JCT, FIDIC and other standard forms of contract.

-Support change management processes, including compensation events, variations and change control.

-Assist in the preparation of applications for payment and supporting documentation.

-Help maintain records to support contractual entitlement and claims.

-Support final account preparation and agreement.

Supply Chain Management

-Assist with subcontractor procurement activities, including tender enquiries and evaluations.

-Support the administration of subcontract agreements.

-Measure and value completed works.

-Assist in the review and processing of subcontractor applications and variations.

-Help manage subcontractor accounts through to final account closure.

Project Delivery Support

-Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Planners and Site Teams.

-Attend project meetings, commercial reviews and site visits.

-Support the identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities.

-Ensure project documentation is maintained in line with company procedures.

-Contribute to effective commercial governance and reporting.

What we are looking for

-A genuine interest in developing a career in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Project Delivery.

-Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

-Good communication and relationship-building abilities.

-Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

-Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

-Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

-Full UK Driving Licence or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable

-Experience within a construction, engineering, infrastructure, utilities or energy environment.

-Experience in a commercial, estimating, project controls or assistant quantity surveying role.

-Knowledge of NEC, JCT, FIDIC or other forms of contract.

-Experience working on infrastructure, civil engineering, power, utilities or renewable energy projects.

-Knowledge of High Voltage (HV) infrastructure, substations, cable routes or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

-Relevant Quantity Surveying, Construction, Commercial Management or Engineering qualification, or working towards one.

-Membership or working towards membership of RICS, CIOB, CICES, ICES or another relevant professional institution.
