About the role:

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Care Assistant to support our service user based in Blandford.

Our service user is a friendly young adult who enjoys attending music festivals, watching football, and collecting football shirts and memorabilia. They enjoy spending time with their dog, who they have taught a variety of tricks. In their spare time, they enjoy playing darts in their bedroom and building Lego sets. We are looking for someone who can build a positive relationship with the service user, encourage independence, and support them to take part in the activities and hobbies they enjoy.

The role involves providing support with complex clinical care, including tracheostomy care and suctioning, ventilation, oxygen therapy, humidification, observation and monitoring, administration of nebulisers via ventilator/tracheostomy, medication administration and feeding via gastrostomy, gastrostomy care, basic vital signs observations, pain management, and social and emotional support.

Previous care experience is desirable, and experience in complex care would be advantageous.

Requirements for the Role:

  • A minimum of 6 months of professional UK Care experience
  • Excellent communication skills and the patience to build a strong, understanding relationship with an individual who has full mental capacity can make their own choices
  • The ability to follow detailed care plans and protocols meticulously.
  • A proactive and observant nature, able to spot subtle changes in an individual's condition.
  • To provide the correct compliance documents, including an updated Right to Work and a valid DBS certificate (we can assist with a new application).
