Coppersmith is currently seeking an experienced, hands-on Cleaning Supervisor to oversee day-to-day cleaning and waste operations within a fast-paced warehouse environment in Crawley.
This is an excellent temporary-to-permanent opportunity for a dedicated leader who takes pride in maintaining high standards, driving team performance, and rolling up their sleeves to support the team when needed.
Your Responsibilities
As a Working Supervisor, you will balance leadership duties with direct operational support, working closely with the Site Manager to ensure the facility remains safe, clean, and efficient.
Key duties include:
Team Leadership: Supervising, supporting, and motivating cleaning operatives, prioritizing workloads, and monitoring daily cleaning standards.
Operational Support: Carrying out hands-on cleaning duties alongside your team whenever operational needs require.
Equipment & Storage: Conducting daily and weekly equipment inspections, reporting maintenance faults, and keeping cleaning storage areas organized and secure.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensuring all operations strictly adhere to Health & Safety, safe working practices, and COSHH regulations (including safe chemical handling and PPE use).
Waste Management: Monitoring on-site waste processes to maintain clear and efficient workflows.
Client Relations: Acting as a professional point of contact to resolve customer queries and maintain strong operational relationships.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Supervisory Experience: Proven, hands-on experience in a supervisory or team leader role is essential.
Industry Background: Prior experience in commercial cleaning, facilities management, or warehouse operations is highly desirable.
Compliance Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and COSHH standards.
Communication Skills: Fluent, communicative English is essential to effectively manage team dynamics and client interactions (an English assessment may be required).
Work Ethic: Strong organizational skills, great initiative, and a customer-focused attitude with the flexibility to adapt as operational priorities shift.
Environment: Must be comfortable working across all areas of a large, busy warehouse facility.
