SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

(to be read in conjunction with competencies)

Work collaboratively as part of the Council’s wider planning service to process a broad range of planning application proposals and provide high-quality pre-application advice, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and internal performance targets

Communicate effectively with Members of the Public, Councillors, stakeholders and agents

Attend Planning Committee meetings and present your cases with support from a more senior member of staff ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are taken

Lead on smaller planning appeals for your cases and others, including those dealt with via fast-track or written representations

Maintain high standards of customer service and meet performance targets, with full regard to the development plan, planning policies, and the Council’s corporate priorities

Liaise with statutory and non-statutory consultees to support applications, enforcement cases and appeal determinations

Interpret and apply planning legislation and associated frameworks as relevant

Work within a target-driven environment, meeting deadlines and contributing to divisional goals

Attend occasional meetings outside normal office hours as required.

Carry out site visits as required

Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and scope of the role. as required to support the effective delivery of the planning service and corporate objectives
