Summary

As ADHD Clinical Lead, you will: Clinical assessment and diagnosis Undertake comprehensive ADHD assessments in accordance with the agreed service pathway, clinical guidance and professional standards. Undertake clinical assessment and diagnosis of ADHD within your professional scope of practice. Consider differential diagnoses and co-existing conditions. Identify clinical complexity, risk and safeguarding concerns. Determine when further assessment or specialist input is required. Explain assessment outcomes and diagnostic decisions clearly to patients. Maintain an appropriate clinical caseload alongside the leadership responsibilities of the role. Clinical triage and leadership Provide senior clinical oversight of the ADHD referral and triage function. Review referrals and available clinical information to determine suitability for the service. Identify complex cases, clinical risk, safeguarding concerns and presentations outside the agreed pathway. Provide senior clinical advice and support to clinicians. Support clinicians with complex, unusual or uncertain cases. Provide constructive professional challenge where appropriate. Support clinicians to recognise the boundaries of their competence and escalate appropriately. Help identify cases requiring formal clinical supervision or specialist advice. Working with SPFT Clinical Supervisors You will work closely with SPFT Clinical Supervisors, acting as an important link between the Brighton & Hove clinical team and the formal clinical supervision arrangements. The Clinical Lead will not replace or undertake the formal clinical supervision responsibilities of SPFT Clinical Supervisors. Clinical governance, quality and patient safety You will make a significant contribution to clinical governance and patient safety, including: Clinical audit and quality improvement. Identification and management of clinical risk. Incident investigation and learning. Clinical input into complaints. Clinical risk assessments and risk registers. Review of clinical hazard logs and safety documentation. Monitoring clinical quality indicators and KPIs. Using clinical data, patient feedback, incidents and complaints to identify opportunities for improvement. Service development You will contribute to the ongoing development of the ADHD Service in Brighton & Hove and the wider NHS Sussex Primary Care Connect ADHD model. This will include: Reviewing and improving clinical pathways. Supporting evidence-based service improvements. Contributing to service evaluation. Supporting pathway redesign and service transformation. Supporting development of clinical competencies. Advising operational colleagues on clinical implications of service changes. Contributing to workforce and clinical capacity discussions. Working collaboratively with GP practices, PCNs, SPFT, NHS Sussex and other partners. Training and professional development You will support the development of the clinical workforce through: Supporting induction of new clinicians. Identifying training and development needs. Supporting peer learning and case discussion. Contributing to clinical teaching. Supporting competency frameworks. Supporting assessment of clinical competence where appropriate. Sharing updates on clinical guidance and practice. Promoting continuing professional development.
