Job Title: Senior Community Mental Health Nurse
Location: 71 Salop Road, Oswestry/Market Drayton Cottage Hospital and Severnfields, Shrewsbury
Contract Type: Temporary
Salary: £19.52 Per hour, 21.88 including holiday payments

Shifts: 09.00-17.00
Job Summary
This role involves supporting the referrals management process and providing more intensive input to our service users and carers who have complex needs in the community, with an expectation that you will be able to effectively manage a complex caseload. You must have previous experience and knowledge of working with those living with a dementia.
The service can be very fast paced and therefore the ability to work efficiently under pressure and respond to high service demand is essential. Additionally, the post holder will need to be confident to work autonomously and organise their time effectively.
You will be highly motivated, have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team, you will also have determination and drive committed to working holistically to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia, their family and carers and demonstrate a range of therapeutic interventions.
You will have experience in a supervisory role and be able to make a positive contribution to the development of the service. You will be encouraged to have access to regular supervision and to maintain your professional development. A good positive attitude towards this specialised client group needs to be demonstrated and the aptitude to contribute to the continual development of the service incorporating evidence-based practice.
This role is community base and there is an expectation that you will provide Senior Nursing direction to junior staff and students across the service as necessary. It is essential that you have a full UK driving license and the use of a car.

You're a Registered Mental Health Nurse who builds trust easily and works confidently in busy community settings. You value face‑to‑face work, collaborative practice and supporting people who may find it difficult to engage with services.
You bring strong assessment and formulation skills, emotional resilience and a genuine commitment to helping adults improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a varied caseload, completing specialist assessments, care planning and ongoing reviews
Deliver brief, evidence‑based interventions, including psychologically informed and/or pharmacological approaches
Complete and review risk assessments, promoting safe and positive risk‑taking
Maintain high‑quality documentation, outcome measures and reports
Work collaboratively within MDTs across primary care, social care, police, voluntary and specialist services
Provide supervision, guidance and learning support to junior staff and students
Contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit and health promotion activity
Communicate sensitively with service users, carers and partner organisations
Essential Skills & Experience
Registered RMN / Occupational Therapist / Social Worker (NMC / HCPC / SWE)
Post‑registration experience working with adults with mental health needs
Strong assessment, formulation and risk management skills
Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions
Experience in community mental health settings
Effective communication, teamwork and organisational skills
Desirable Skills & Experience
Training in psychological therapies (CBT, DBT, EMDR, Family Interventions)
Coaching or clinical supervision training
