The Role
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Chief Inspector to take ownership of inspection and final product acceptance across two advanced manufacturing sites.
This is a hands-on, senior inspection role with responsibility for CMM programming and operation, quality standards, final sign-off and supporting the wider inspection team. The role is fully site-based with regular travel between Gloucester and Swindon.
The client are flexible with working at both site, schedule to suit you.
Key Responsibilities
•
Own inspection standards, methods, inspection plans and overall inspection capability.
•
Lead and support the inspection team across both sites.
•
Program and operate CMMs, including PC-DMIS, alongside visual and dimensional inspection.
•
Inspect composite and metallic components against drawings, CAD models, specifications and GD&T.
•
Own final product acceptance, including AS9102 FAIRs and Certificates of Conformity.
•
Manage inspection records, Gauge R&R and audit readiness.
•
Lead the response to non-conformances and support MRB, root cause and corrective actions.
•
Manage calibration of measurement equipment.
•
Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001 and customer requirements.
•
Drive improvements in inspection methods, cycle times and first-time pass rates.
About You
•
Level 3 NVQ in Engineering/Manufacturing or equivalent industrial experience.
•
Strong quality inspection experience within manufacturing.
•
CMM programming and operation experience, with solid PC-DMIS knowledge.
•
Confident interpreting technical drawings, specifications and GD&T.
•
Experience extracting inspection data from CAD models.
•
Good knowledge of metrology equipment.
•
Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001.
•
Strong attention to detail, communication and problem-solving skills.
•
Confident making quality decisions and maintaining standards under production pressure.
•
Willingness to work shifts/overtime and travel between Gloucester and Swindon.
Desirable
•
Aerospace or composites experience.
•
Previous delegated inspection/sign-off authority.
•
Root cause analysis experience (8D, 5 Whys, etc.).
•
APQP/PPAP knowledge.
