Location: National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, NG12 2LU Hourly rate: £10.85 to £12.71 plus excellent benefits Schedule: Permanent, Full-time, 39 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, typical shifts 6 to 13 hours depending on the season, rotation 4-on 3-off or 4-on 4-off, weekend events are often longer shift times, typically 10 to 13 hours

- and right now we are looking to recruit for a Trainee Water Assistant to join our Team.As a Trainee Water Assistant in our Leisure team, you’ll help prepare, maintain, and operate water-based facilities and equipment, supporting safe and enjoyable experiences for everyone on site.

From maintaining equipment to supporting water safety on the lake, your work will have a positive impact on communities by enabling safe access to water sports and leisure activities. You’ll be part of a supportive team where your development matters, building practical skills while helping create a trusted, high-quality environment for all users.

 

What you’ll do as a Trainee Water Assistant

·        Carry out water-based operations, including the movement, positioning, anchoring, and security of boats, buoys, and cables, sometimes working in deep water.

·        Maintain and repair boats, outboard motors, pontoons, jetties, trailers, and other equipment, ensuring fleet safety and seaworthiness.

·        Oversee and supervise the safe use of watercraft by centre users, including monitoring activity and ensuring compliance with procedures.

·        Manage equipment and operational records, including issuing and checking returned items, logging daily activities, and tracking fuel and oil usage.

·        Handle customer-facing duties, including verifying payments, processing cash transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records.

·        Support the general upkeep of the facility, including cleaning, preparing for events, and contributing to health and safety across all activities.

·        A willingness to learn practical maintenance skills and work outdoors in a water-based environment

·        Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to also work independently

·        A commitment to safety, customer care, and treating everyone with respect

·        Confident handling equipment and following procedures

·        Confident working in a power boat and working on or around water

·        Powerboat Level 2 is desirable or training can be provided

·        Full UK Driving Licence
