Summary
Hours of work: Sessional – Hours predominately between 8:00 and 16:30
Salary: Above National Minimum wage (Dependent on qualifications & experience)
Location: Lions Centre and satellite sites in Southwark and Lewisham
Responsible to: Millwall Premier League Inspires Officer
Supervises: Young people aged 11–18
Role Summary
Are you passionate about using football and sport to inspire young people to achieve their potential?
Millwall Community Trust (MCT) is seeking enthusiastic, reliable and engaging Premier League Inspires Coach & Mentors to support delivery of our Premier League Inspires programme across secondary schools in Lewisham and Southwark.
Working alongside the Premier League Inspires Officer, you will deliver football and multi-sport sessions that develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and positive behaviours whilst providing mentoring and acting as a positive role model, helping young people overcome barriers both on and off the pitch.
Delivery may take place before school, during the curriculum, at lunchtime or after school.
This is an excellent opportunity for coaches looking to develop within education, mentoring and youth development through ongoing CPD and progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Football Coaching & Learner Engagement
• Deliver football and multi-sport sessions across Premier League Inspires programmes.
• Use football to develop confidence, teamwork and resilience.
• Adapt coaching for differing abilities, behaviours and SEND needs.
• Create safe, inclusive and enjoyable coaching environments.
• Prepare equipment and deliver activities safely.
2. Mentoring & Personal Development
• Build positive relationships through coaching and mentoring.
• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group mentoring.
• Support young people to set goals and celebrate progress.
• Promote leadership, resilience and positive behaviours.
• Act as a professional and relatable role model.
3. School & Programme Support
• Support curriculum, lunchtime and after-school delivery.
• Work collaboratively with schools and programme staff.
• Support tournaments, festivals and themed events.
• Encourage learner engagement, attendance and participation.
• Support wider Education & Employability activities.
4. Outcomes & Quality
• Support agreed Premier League Inspires outcomes.
• Deliver high-quality coaching meeting MCT standards.
• Gather learner feedback and impact evidence.
• Promote respect, teamwork and inclusion.
• Encourage progression across MCT programmes.
5. Administration & Compliance
• Complete registers and learner records accurately.
• Maintain programme records and funder evidence.
• Monitor attendance and learner engagement.
• Follow safeguarding, GDPR and Health & Safety procedures
6. Safeguarding & Professional Responsibilities
• Ensure safeguarding, GDPR, equality, H&S and MCT policies are adhered at all times.
• Undertake CPD and mandatory training as required by the Trust.
• Ensure all activities are appropriately risk assessed and delivered safely.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and positively promote MCT and programmes.
7. Additional responsibilities
• Model professional conduct and actively demonstrate MCT core values in your work.
• Act as a positive role model, presenting a professional image of the Trust and its services.
• Develop understanding and commitment to equal opportunities, in workplace & community
• Ensure when involved in any Trust activities that the Safeguarding of learners is prioritised and that safeguarding policies and procedures are being always adhered to.
• Undertake CPD opportunities as deemed appropriate
• Adhere to Trust’s policies and procedures attending Trust training/meetings as required
• Contribute to the development of a culture of continuous improvement within the Trust.
• Support all MCT departments on trust initiatives as identified by CEO, SLT & Trustees
• Actively promote the Trust in a positive and professional manner.
