Job Description
6 hours per week | Flexible daytime hours | £13.28 per hour*
Are you organised, practical, reliable and good at helping someone turn a long to-do list into “Right – let’s get this sorted”?
I am looking for a friendly, capable and down-to-earth female Personal Assistant to work alongside me for 6 hours per week.
I am a mature, intelligent and independent autistic woman with ADHD. I work part-time, have a busy life and am very capable in many areas. However, autism and ADHD mean that organisation, prioritising, getting started on tasks and keeping on top of everyday life can sometimes become overwhelming.
I am not looking for someone to take over or do everything for me.
I am looking for someone who can work with me – providing practical support, structure, encouragement and an extra pair of hands when needed so that I can maintain my independence.
This is much more of a Personal Assistant and organisational support role than a traditional care role.

Roles and Responsibilities
What will the job involve?
No two weeks will necessarily be exactly the same.
Depending on what is happening that week, you might help me to:
• Work out what needs doing and what needs doing first
• Turn an overwhelming list into a realistic plan
• Make and maintain to-do lists, schedules and reminders
• Keep on top of appointments, correspondence and everyday life administration
• Make telephone calls and help deal with practical enquiries
• Break larger or difficult jobs into manageable steps
• Get started on tasks when I am stuck or overwhelmed
• Keep me focused and help make sure we actually finish what we started!
• Organise and tidy areas of my home alongside me
• Plan meals and prepare shopping lists
• Occasionally accompany me to health or other appointments
• Help me keep track of commitments and things that need following up
• Occasionally provide practical help relating to my friendly family dog
Sometimes what I need most is another person arriving and saying:
“Right. What are we tackling first?”
…and then helping me stay focused until we can cross it off the list.

Employer Gender: Female
Hourly Rate: £13.28
Hours Per Week: 6 hours per week
How will the hours be used: Hours are predominantly during the daytime. I usually prefer my PA support on Mondays and/or Fridays, as I work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There does, however, need to be some flexibility. Occasionally we may agree to change a day or time to fit around appointments, commitments or what I need support with that particular week.
This could therefore be an ideal role for someone looking for a small number of regular daytime hours alongside: • Another part-time role • Self-employment • Family commitments • Semi-retirement or retirement • Other flexible work
Employer requires transport? Yes
Essential requirements
Who am I looking for? Personality, reliability and life experience are just as important to me as formal qualifications. You are likely to suit this role if you are: • Naturally organised and good at getting things done • Reliable and punctual • Calm, patient and practical • Friendly and approachable • Confident enough to keep me focused when I become distracted • Encouraging without being bossy or patronising • Comfortable using your own initiative • Good at solving everyday problems • Comfortable with paperwork, appointments and general administration • Able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing • Respectful of confidentiality and personal boundaries • Dependable and consistent • Equipped with plenty of common sense • Someone with a good sense of humour You need to be comfortable working alongside me rather than doing things for me. There will be times when encouragement and persistence are more useful than simply completing a task yourself. Essential requirements You will need: • A full UK driving licence • Access to a vehicle • Good spoken and written English • To be reliable, trustworthy and professional • To respect confidentiality • To be willing to undertake appropriate autism awareness training if not already completed • A First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake appropriate First Aid training Autism training such as the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism can be undertaken if required Required Training What experience do you need? Experience or understanding of autism, ADHD, mental health or executive-function difficulties would be helpful. However, this does not necessarily need to come from a formal care or support-worker role. The right skills could have been gained through: • Personal Assistant or administrative work • Healthcare or NHS roles • Education • Support work • Community or voluntary work • Working with neurodivergent people • Relevant personal or family experience • Other roles requiring excellent organisation, patience and people skills I am interested in finding the right person, not simply the person with the longest list of care qualifications. It is important that you are willing to understand how autism and ADHD affect me as an individual, rather than making assumptions based solely on a diagnosis. An awareness of mental health difficulties is also useful, along with the ability to remain calm and supportive if I am having a particularly difficult time.
