Summary
Are you an experienced Transport Planner looking for your next challenge within a busy, fast-moving transport operation?
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation operating a nationwide distribution network within the construction materials sector. This is an opportunity to become part of a professional transport team where you'll play a key role in coordinating the movement of a modern fleet, ensuring customers receive an efficient and reliable service across the UK.

The Role
As Transport Planner, you'll be responsible for coordinating the daily movements of a national fleet of LGV flatbed vehicles. Working closely with drivers, customers and internal departments, you'll ensure deliveries are planned efficiently, resources are utilised effectively and customer expectations are consistently met.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing effective daily transport plans for a nationwide fleet of LGV flatbed vehicles.
- Allocating work to drivers while considering delivery priorities, driver hours and vehicle availability.
- Monitoring vehicle movements throughout the day and responding quickly to operational changes.
- Building strong working relationships with drivers, customers, warehouse teams and other internal departments.
- Maximising fleet utilisation while maintaining high levels of service and controlling transport costs.
- Ensuring all transport activities comply with current legislation, including Driver Hours, Working Time Directive and operator compliance requirements.
- Resolving delivery issues and providing practical solutions to minimise disruption.
- Maintaining accurate transport records and supporting continuous improvements across the operation.
- Previous experience in a Transport Planner or Transport Coordinator position.
- Experience planning LGV vehicles across a UK-wide distribution network.
- Knowledge of flatbed operations or construction materials would be a distinct advantage.
- A sound understanding of UK transport legislation and driver compliance requirements.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
- Salary of
- Monday to Friday working pattern
- 8:00am to 5:00pm
- No weekend working
