Summary

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities The Practice Nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team, delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care.Clinical Responsibilities Chronic disease management, including asthma, COPD, and diabetes Cervical cytology (HPV screening) Wound care, leg ulcer management, and Doppler assessments Venepuncture and phlebotomy ECG recording New patient health checks and urinalysis Suture and clip removal Administration of injectable medications (e.g. B12, Depo, Nebido, Clexane, Zoladex) Delivery of routine and childhood immunisations (including flu, shingles, pneumococcal vaccines) Requesting basic pathology tests (e.g. urine cultures, swabs) Working to agreed clinical protocols and escalating to GPs where appropriateAdditional Responsibilities Maintain clinical rooms, ensuring appropriate stock levels and cleanliness Ensure compliance with cold chain processes for vaccines Undertake regular checks of emergency equipment Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records Report risks, incidents, or concerns to senior staff Participate in practice meetings, training, and continuous professional development Support administrative systems within the practice Undertake home or care home visits where required (e.g. vaccination delivery)
