Clinical Lead Job summary Are you an experienced CBT therapist or clinical team leader ready to take the next step in your career? Gordon Moody is seeking an accomplished and compassionate Clinical Lead to provide expert clinical leadership across our residential gambling harms treatment services. This is an opportunity to progress into a senior leadership role while remaining closely involved in clinical practice and improving outcomes for people experiencing gambling-related harms and co-occurring mental health difficulties. Based in Redditch with some opportunity to work from home and at our Wolverhampton site, and reporting to the Head of Therapy, you will lead multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of safe, effective and evidence-based treatment. You will help shape clinical practice, strengthen governance, develop the workforce and drive continuous improvement across our services. The role would suit an experienced CBT therapist with established leadership or supervisory experience who is passionate about developing others and maintaining high clinical standards. It may be particularly suited to someone from an NHS Talking Therapies, or substance misuse service who is ready to progress into a broader clinical leadership position. Main duties of the job As Clinical Lead, you will: Provide expert clinical leadership across Gordon Moodys treatment services. Support the assessment and treatment of gambling-related harms and co-occurring mental health conditions. Lead on complex case formulation, safeguarding and clinical risk management. Oversee the delivery of evidence-based interventions, including CBT. Line manage and clinically support Gambling Therapists. Lead clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and outcome monitoring. Support recruitment, workforce planning, training and professional development. Contribute to service development and represent Gordon Moody within relevant clinical networks and partnerships. Deputise for the Head of Therapy when required. Job description Job responsibilities The Clinical Lead is responsible for supporting the safe, effective and evidence-based delivery of structured treatment for people experiencing gambling-related harms and associated mental health difficulties. Working closely with the Head of Therapy, you will provide leadership across clinical practice, governance, workforce development and service quality. You will work across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the continued development of Gordon Moodys treatment pathways. Clinical leadership and practice Provide expert clinical guidance in the assessment and treatment of gambling-related harms and co-occurring mental health conditions. Lead on complex case formulation and advise on high-risk, complex or multifactorial presentations. Oversee the delivery of evidence-based psychological interventions, including CBT and appropriate integrative approaches. Support consistent and effective safeguarding, suicide prevention, crisis escalation and clinical risk management. Promote continuity of care across residential, remote and external treatment pathways. Model high standards of ethical, compassionate and person-centred clinical practice. Support teams to embed trauma-informed and recovery-focused approaches. Leadership and service management Provide clinical and operational leadership across treatment services. Line manage Gambling Therapists, supporting their performance, wellbeing and professional development. Provide clinical supervision and facilitate reflective practice. Support recruitment, induction, workforce planning and staff retention. Help identify and respond to workforce development and competency needs. Contribute to service transformation, mobilisation and improvement projects. Manage competing operational priorities while maintaining high clinical standards. Deputise for the Head of Therapy when required. Clinical governance and quality Lead and contribute to clinical governance activities, including audit, peer review, supervision frameworks and quality improvement. Ensure practice complies with safeguarding legislation, professional standards, regulatory requirements and internal policies. Monitor clinical outcomes, quality indicators and relevant performance measures. Analyse audit findings, incidents and areas of learning, ensuring appropriate actions and improvements are implemented. Support the development, review and implementation of clinical policies, procedures and pathways. Assist with preparation for inspections, commissioner reviews and other assurance processes. Promote a culture of openness, learning and continuous improvement. Strategic and partnership working Support the alignment of services with national gambling harms treatment frameworks and relevant mental health policy. Strengthen integration with NHS, mental health, substance misuse and community referral pathways. Represent Gordon Moody at clinical networks, partnership meetings and professional forums. Develop effective working relationships with commissioners, treatment providers and other external stakeholders. Contribute clinical expertise to strategic planning and future service development. Support the organisation to respond to emerging evidence, policy developments and changes in clinical practice. Training and workforce development Provide high-quality clinical supervision to qualified clinicians. Promote reflective, evidence-based and trauma-informed practice. Support continuing professional development and competency frameworks across the clinical workforce. Identify training needs and contribute to internal training programmes. Support the development of clinical leadership and supervision skills within the wider team. Contribute to organisational learning and the sharing of good practice. Person specification Qualifications Essential Postgraduate qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or a recognised core mental health profession, such as mental health nursing, clinical psychology, counselling psychology or an equivalent discipline. Current accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). Recognised clinical supervision qualification or accredited supervision training. Evidence of advanced and relevant continuing professional development. Desirable Additional qualification or accreditation in an NHS-recognised therapeutic modality, such as EMDR, PCE-CfD, CAT, DIT, IPT, DBT, MBCT or ACT. Experience and knowledge Essential Significant post-qualification experience within mental health, addiction, NHS Talking Therapies, substance misuse or a related clinical service. Substantial experience of delivering CBT to people with complex mental health needs. Experience of assessing and managing complex and high-risk clinical presentations. Experience of safeguarding, suicide risk assessment and crisis management. Experience of clinically supervising qualified clinicians. Experience of leading, coordinating or supporting a clinical team. Experience of contributing to clinical governance, audit and quality assurance. Advanced knowledge of CBT formulation and evidence-based intervention. Understanding of trauma-informed, recovery-focused and person-centred practice. Desirable Knowledge of gambling disorder, gambling-related harms and behavioural addiction models. Experience of working within residential or intensive treatment services. Experience of contributing to service transformation or mobilisation. Experience of clinically supervising Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.
