Summary
Personal Assistant Wanted (Relief/Cover) – Humour, Patience & Positivity Needed.
Tollcross G32 area.
Are you a warm, reliable and upbeat person who enjoys bringing humour, patience and positivity into someone’s day?
Meet L:
He is a happy, easy-going young man with a brilliant sense of humour, and he is looking for a Personal Assistant to provide cover during periods of annual leave, sickness, and other occasions.
L loves spending time at home, which is his safe and comfortable space. He enjoys relaxing with his iPad, watching YouTube, especially Scooby-Doo and influencers, attending his day centre, and going out to activities when something catches his interest, such as trips to the OVO Hydro to see the monster trucks.
A day in the role:
As L’s Personal Assistant, you will be supporting with:
• Morning and afternoon routines
• Personal care
• Moving and assisting, including use of a hoist
• Tube feeding and medication
• Transport to and from his day centre
• Household tasks such as keeping his bedroom clean and hygienic, and carrying out light ironing
• Helping him relax, stay entertained and enjoy time at home or out in the community
Hours and rate of Pay:
This is a relief cover position providing support during periods of annual leave, sickness, and other occasions when cover is required.
Typical cover hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am–9:30am and 2:30pm–4:30pm, and Saturdays 10:00am–4:00pm. Actual hours worked will vary depending on cover requirements, so flexibility is important.
Rate of pay: £15.00 per hour.
Could you be the right match?
L is non-verbal and a full-time wheelchair user. He understands communication well and responds through facial expressions, so it is important that his Personal Assistant is patient, attentive and takes time to get to know how L communicates.
He would love someone who:
• Can match his happy personality and share a laugh with him
• Respects that home is his safe space
• Is confident, dependable and able to provide calm, reassuring support
• Can build a positive, trusting relationship with him and his family.
• Has previous experience as a Personal Assistant or in a similar care and support role (preferred)
• Previous experience with moving and assisting, including hoisting, is preferred as training and support will be provided.
Essential requirements:
• A full, clean driving licence is essential. No vehicle is required, as L has access to his own adapted vehicle.
Why Apply?
For someone with the right skills, experience and outlook, this is a rewarding opportunity to use your knowledge and experience to make a real impact while working in a relaxed, one-to-one support environment where personality matters just as much as practical skills.
