Long Term Futures is recruiting an experienced Primary Teaching Assistant with a strong SEN focus to join a welcoming primary school in the Ashbourne area from September 2026.

This role is ideal for a Teaching Assistant who already has experience supporting children with additional needs and is confident adapting their approach to individual pupils. You will work across the primary age range, providing a combination of classroom, small-group and 1:1 SEN support.

The school is looking for someone patient, proactive and dependable who can build positive relationships while providing the structure and consistency pupils with SEND need to succeed.

Working alongside class teachers, the SENCo and wider support team, you will:

* Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs

* Support children with needs including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties and SEMH

* Help pupils access classroom learning through differentiated activities and resources

* Follow strategies outlined within EHCPs and individual support plans

* Deliver targeted literacy, numeracy, communication and social interventions

* Support pupils with emotional regulation, transitions and changes to routine

* Use positive behaviour strategies to maintain engagement and clear expectations

* Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience

* Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and the SENCo

* Work collaboratively with school staff and external professionals where appropriate

* Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant

* Experience supporting children with SEN/SEND is essential

* Understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH or Speech & Language difficulties

* Confident providing both 1:1 and small-group support

* Experience working with EHCPs or individual support plans is desirable

* Strong communication and positive behaviour management skills

* Patient, resilient and able to remain consistent when pupils require additional support

* Proactive and comfortable using initiative within the classroom

* Committed to a long-term school-based position

* Primary school based in the Ashbourne, Derbyshire (DE6) area
