Leeds is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a long-term opportunity starting in

September 2026, initially running throughout the full academic year.

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

    Full-time, long-term Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role (Monday–Friday)

    Earn up to £540 per week

    Opportunity to gain valuable experience within a Leeds SEN primary school

    Supportive environment with strong SEN and inclusion practices

    Ongoing mentoring and guidance from experienced SEN professionals

    Excellent preparation for PGCE courses, SEN teaching, psychology or specialist support pathways

    Position starting September 2026

    Ideal Candidate – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant:

      2:1 degree or higher, with Psychology, Education or relevant core subject degrees particularly welcomed

      Patient, compassionate and resilient approach to supporting pupils with additional needs

      Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

      Previous experience working with SEN pupils, tutoring, mentoring, youth work or children is advantageous but not essential

      Must have the right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)

      The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant:

      As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils aged

      4–11 with a range of additional needs, including

      autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and social or emotional challenges.

      You will provide dedicated

      1:1 support, assist with

      small-group interventions and work closely with teachers and wider support staff to ensure lessons and learning resources are accessible and engaging for every pupil.

      This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain meaningful, paid experience within an SEN setting while developing your understanding of behaviour support, communication, inclusion and pupil development.

      The Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant position is particularly suited to graduates who are considering a future career in

      teaching, SEN education, psychology, educational psychology, speech and language therapy or other allied professions.
