Summary

What's involved with this role:

Triumph Consultants are looking for a Health & Safety Manager to provide senior professional leadership, assurance, challenge and practical operational support across its City Services portfolio. Contract is for 9 months in Cambridge, CB4 0DN.

Health & Safety Manager

Pay Rate: Up to £34.57 per hour PAYE, TBC

Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

Contract length: 9 months

Location: Cambridge CB4 0DN

Basic DBS on offer only

Key requirements:

Experience of local government or the wider public sector; housing and property compliance; unionised operational environments; regulatory engagement; ISO 45001; specialist auditing or incident investigation; fire safety; asbestos management; and contract management/procurement would be advantageous

Ability to make an immediate impact within the organisation

Ability to combine strong technical H&S competence with operational credibility

Comfortable walking operational sites, talking directly with frontline employees and contractors

Experience in challenging unsafe practices where necessary and equally operating with senior leadership on governance, risk and assurance.

Ability to distinguish between issues requiring immediate intervention and longer-term improvement

Key responsibilities

Provide senior professional leadership, assurance, challenge and practical operational support across the City Services portfolio.

Provide a hands-on, time-limited improvement and assurance assignment (rather than a predominantly corporate or desk-based advisory role)

Report directly to the Assistant Director – Strategic Delivery (Operations) and work across a diverse portfolio of operational services

Rapidly assess the current health and safety position, identify priority risks and weaknesses, test whether existing controls are effective in practice

Support managers to address deficiencies and establish sustainable arrangements for ongoing management and assurance.

Provide competent professional advice, independent challenge, assurance and practical support to enable other managers to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
