Summary
The Senior Nurse for ICU will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided within the Planned Care Group. They will be easily identifiable to patients and users and provide strong, visible leadership. They will have the appropriate level of authority to provide the support, advice and assistance required by patients and their families and carers. The key focus of the role will be Patient Safety, Patient Experience, user engagement, quality care and clinical outcomes. The post holder will have clinical and managerial responsibility for a defined clinical portfolio within the Planned Care Group, which will include the Intensive Care Unit. They will also have lead clinical responsibility for supporting the Care Group in activities relating to the delivery of high-quality services, including involvement in maintaining activity levels, managing service pressures & patient flow and maintaining the highest standards of care. They will lead on delegated projects on behalf of the Care Group and will provide support for day-to-day operational issues and deputise as deemed appropriate. The ICU Senior Nurse role requires a dynamic leader with a proven history of delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care. The southwest region has a highly functional critical care network, and you will therefore have a key role in developing nursing practice throughout the region, working closely with colleagues in other organisations. As the unit runs a nationally recognised ICU rehabilitation service the post holder provides senior leadership and line management to the rehabilitation team which includes physiotherapy and occupational therapy components to provide appropriate patient focused care. The post holder will have completed masters level study or equivalent in nursing/leadership. If you are an ICU nurse with vision, substantial recent clinical ICU experience at a senior level, and a strong team focus we wish to hear from you. The role is key to providing a patient centred service working with a well-developed team that are highly educated in evidence-based practice. The postholder will be required to provide clinical expertise to the trust leadership team on matters related to the development and progression of the critical care service.
