Summary

Hours: WTE 0.8 (30 Hours per week)

We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist who is passionate aboutworking with children and young people with complex presentations and their families, to join ourwarm and friendly Wandsworth Tier 3 CAMHS Team.

As an Assistant Psychologist, the post holder will have a lead role in the collection of Routine Outcome Measures in the team and also be responsible for collating service user experience questionnaires and presenting regular feedback to the team.

We are passionate about service development, audit and service evaluation in the team, with lots of new initiatives and the post holder would be able to contribute to these. e.g supporting with service user involvement initiatives under Patient and Public Involvement (PPI)).

You will be responsible (under supervision) for welfare check in calls to lower risk young people on our waiting lists and you will also have a key role in minuting clinical MDT discussions and overseeing the duty rota for the team.

Youwill support (as needed) service wide initiatives and Psychology and Psychotherapy (P and P)related work with close supervision by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist/PandP Lead (e.g. PPI work; Equality and Diversity workand psychology workforce specific agendas).

There are often opportunities for shadowing of clinical work with qualified clinicians within the team, supporting with therapeutic groups and involvement with our thriving family therapy clinic. You may also be able to support with discrete aspects of therapeutic work with young people and parents, under direct supervision from a clinical or counselling psychologist.

The post holder will receive regular supervision from a Highly Specialist Counselling/Clinical Psychologist within the team who will ensure adherence to professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

Our team also works closely with other CAMHS services, such as the Single Point of Access team and Neurodevelopmental Assessment team, and as such there may be opportunities to shadow further meetings and assessments.

Under appropriate supervision from a qualified Clinical Psychologist: 

To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, 

To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic and/or psychoeducation groups, or care planning. 

To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings, including referral, clinical and review meetings. 

To support protocol based psychological assessments of clients applying psychological, tests, selfreport measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care under the 

supervision of a qualified psychologist. 

To assist in the implementation and monitoring of therapy and care plans in a way that is positive and respectful of clients’ and carers' needs. 

To assist in the compilation of assessment, update and discharge reports as required. 

To work with other staff to assess clients in various settings and review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary reviews. 

To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place.
