We are recruiting enthusiastic and reliable Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Newham from September 2026.
The role will involve working across Key Stage 1 (KS1), supporting pupils with their learning, development and engagement throughout the school day. You will work alongside class teachers to provide a mixture of whole-class, small-group and 1:1 support, including additional assistance for pupils with SEN where required.
Interviews and trial days are taking place immediately for September, making this an excellent opportunity to secure your next long-term primary school role before the new academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teaching and learning across KS1
- Provide 1:1 and small-group interventions in English, phonics and Maths
- Assist the class teacher with lesson activities and classroom routines
- Provide additional support for pupils with SEN and additional learning needs
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence and confidence
- Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Help create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working with primary-aged children
- Experience supporting pupils across KS1 is highly desirable
- Good understanding of early literacy, numeracy and phonics
- A patient, enthusiastic and proactive approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience supporting SEN pupils would be an advantage
- A genuine interest in developing a career within primary education
