Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week

Role information:

We are currently recruiting for a Health Physics Monitor (HPM) to support operations at a leading nuclear facility in Preston. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced health physics professionals looking to work within a highly regulated environment, ensuring the highest standards of radiological protection and safety are maintained.

Qualifications/Experience Required

Conduct routine contamination and radiation surveys of personnel, equipment and facilities

Provide radiological coverage for routine and non-routine jobs in radiologically designated areas

Ensure compliance with ALARP principles.

Assist in implementing site radiation protection procedures and controls

Perform air sampling, smear sampling and bioassay collection as required

Perform daily operational checks on radiation monitoring instruments and report any faults for timely maintenance or calibration

Support decontamination and radioactive waste handling activities

Document survey results and maintain accurate radiological records

Work in collaboration with the Health Physics Supervisor, providing on the job support and guidance to colleagues regarding radiological safety practices

Provide training and guidance to personnel working in designated areas

Respond to radiological incidents and support emergency response operations

Previous experience working as a Health Physics Monitor or within a radiological protection environment.

Nuclear site experience

Knowledge of radiation safety principles and monitoring techniques.

Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.

Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly with stakeholders.

Relevant site qualifications and clearances are advantageous.

UK National Security Vetting Status - Ability to gain SC Clearance
