Duty Manager - CleaningCore purpose: Ensure the cleaning operation consistently meets organisational standards, legal compliance, and health & safety requirements, while leading the team with clarity, accountability, and performance discipline.
Key Responsibilities
-Operational Leadership — Oversee daily cleaning operations across assigned areas, ensuring work is completed to required specifications, service levels, and audit standards.
-Team Accountability — Set clear expectations, monitor performance, deliver constructive feedback, and address underperformance promptly through coaching or formal processes.
-Quality Assurance — Conduct scheduled and ad‑hoc inspections, document findings, and implement corrective actions to maintain consistently high standards.
-Compliance Management — Ensure all activities comply with company policies, cleaning standards, COSHH regulations, and statutory obligations. Maintain accurate records for audits.
-Health & Safety Oversight — Lead safe working practices, complete risk assessments, enforce PPE usage, and investigate incidents or near misses with root‑cause analysis.
-Training & Development — Deliver onboarding, refresher training, and competency checks to ensure staff understand procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols.
-Resource & Equipment Control — Manage stock levels, equipment maintenance, and safe storage of chemicals. Report defects and ensure timely repairs.
-Communication & Reporting — Provide clear daily briefings, escalate issues appropriately, and produce accurate operational reports for senior management.
-Customer & Stakeholder Liaison — Respond professionally to client queries, resolve issues promptly, and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
-Continuous Improvement — Identify operational inefficiencies, propose solutions, and support implementation of new processes or technologies.
Required Skills & Experience
-Proven experience supervising cleaning teams in a commercial, facilities, or hospitality environment.
-Strong knowledge of COSHH, risk assessments, safe systems of work, and cleaning industry standards.
-Ability to hold staff accountable while maintaining a positive, fair, and supportive culture.
-Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
-Confident communicator with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
-Competent in reporting, record‑keeping, and using digital tools for audits or scheduling.
