Salary: £13.45–£13.96 per hour (dependant on qualifications)
Contract: Part time – 25 hours per week

This is a unique opportunity to build a strong, consistent relationship and support a child to flourish within a nurturing nursery environment.Our Greenway nursery offers a more relaxed feel than larger settings, with just 62 places. It’s housed in a beautifully refurbished old school building designed to inspire young minds, with large windows, high ceilings, and a light, welcoming atmosphere. The garden runs the full length of the nursery and looks out over Greenway Playing Field, with regular visits to Badocks Wood for outdoor exploration.Located at the Greenway Centre in Southmead, this nursery is easily accessible from across Bristol, with free parking and local bus routes nearby.Our approach centres on child-led learning through play, with a thoughtfully designed curriculum that nurtures curiosity and supports each child’s unique interests. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring that every child – including those with additional needs – can access and benefit from this approach in a way that works for them.About the roleAs a 1:1 SEN Support Educator, you will provide dedicated support for a child with:• Primary need: Communication & Interaction• Secondary needs: Sensory processing and SEMH (social, emotional and mental health)You will:• Build a consistent, trusting relationship, supporting the child to feel safe and secure• Support communication using early strategies such as Makaton, visuals and modelling language• Help the child express wants and needs (currently uses approx. 50 words, alongside pointing and vocalisations)• Gently encourage and scaffold engagement with peers, supporting social development• Adapt activities, routines and environments in response to sensory and emotional needs• Respond calmly and confidently to emerging behaviours (including when the child becomes distressed)• Work closely with your room team, SENCo, family and external professionals• Contribute to observations, reflections and tailored support plansThe child is currently on the Autism Assessment Pathway (awaiting assessment), so this role requires a thoughtful, flexible and responsive approach.What about you?You’re the kind of person who…Is patient, empathetic and highly attuned to children’s emotional needsUnderstands (or is keen to learn about) early communication support, including visuals and MakatonRecognises the importance of attachment, consistency and co-regulationCan remain calm and supportive when a child is distressed, using this as a moment for connectionBrings energy, curiosity and a reflective mindsetCares deeply about inclusive practice and making a difference to children and familiesIf you’re passionate about supporting children with additional needs, we’d love to hear from you.Raised In is dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the communities we serve. Applicant requirementsTo apply for this role you'll need:Experience supporting children or young people with SEND in a professional settingExperience working in a 1:1 support role or a similar position supporting individuals with additional needsA good understanding of inclusive practice and child-centred supportConfidence in building positive relationships with children, families and professionalsA patient, nurturing and adaptable approachDesirable:A full and relevant Early Years qualification (Level 2 or Level 3)Experience supporting children with communication and interaction needs, autism, physical disabilities and/or medical needsKnowledge of strategies such as visual supports, Makaton, co-regulation or sensory-informed practiceThis role is linked to specific SEN support funding and may be subject to review.
