Summary

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team of 5 Social Workers and 2 Family Support Workers, providing a professional field social work services to children, families, individuals and groups in the Portlethen area.

The post is based at Portlethen Family Resource Centre, within Portlethen Academy, primarily encompassing the catchment area of the Academy and the five local Primary Schools. The Family Resource Centre is well situated and offers a space to work creatively with children and young people.

The team focuses upon working in partnership with children, young people and their families, alongside close multi-agency working with related partner agencies and services within the wider community. We strive to deliver the best outcomes for children, young people and their families, in line with directives such as the The Promise and other relevant government strategies, keeping abreast of ongoing legislation changes such as the Children, (Care and Justice Act), (Scotland), 2024.

The role carries a varied caseload of statutory and non-statutory cases, including at times, opportunities within Permanence, Child Protection, and assessing need for Children with Disabilities. The case holder will also have a role in provision of a duty service. There with opportunities for direct work, and alongside opportunities to develop skills in the areas detailed, and opportunities to contribute to working groups as and when appropriate.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Requirements

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where applicable, this post also requires an Overseas Criminal Record Check.
