Summary
Hays Education are working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Wolverhampton that is dedicated to creating a positive learning environment where every child is supported, challenged and encouraged to achieve their full potential. Due to an increased need for support, the school is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join their Year 5 team from September 2026.
Your new role
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support teaching and learning within a Year 5 classroom. You will provide in-class support, work with small groups of children and deliver targeted 1:1 interventions to help pupils achieve their academic goals and build confidence in their learning.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting Key Stage 2 children and making a positive impact on their education.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning within a Year 5 classroom
- Work with small groups of pupils to reinforce learning
- Deliver targeted 1:1 support and interventions
- Assist children with their academic, social and emotional development
- Support pupils across a range of curriculum areas
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school staff
- Monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress
What you'll need to succeed
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or recognised equivalent
- Previous experience supporting children within Key Stage 2
- Experience delivering small group and 1:1 interventions
- A good understanding of the KS2 curriculum
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, nurturing and flexible approach
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a new DBS through Hays
